Only this year that I learned how to commute by myself. Six months in college I somehow got the hang of it already. I used to think that riding the LRT/MRT is a tiring thing to do (still is) but I managed and got through it. Riding the LRT can be safe if you don’t look too ignorant, but it can be really, really dangerous.
I was taking my usual route in going home (Central terminal-EDSA). When going down in EDSA station, there were these two guys who suddenly started a commotion. Both of them screaming at each other with a lot of spectators, obviously since it is I think, the busiest station of the train. They were really near me but I was minding my own business. I was about to go out, already swiped my ticket, when suddenly the two guys got to close proximity with each other. I got pushed by one of them and in the process got pushed on one of the metals of the machine. The guards saw this and started pushing the guys away from each other. I was really scared and was about to cry. With no ticket left I went to the lady guard and explained to her what happened. Thankfully, she believed me right away and let me pass to the exit gate. I was really traumatized by the whole incident and thought of it all the way home. I was praying hard to the Lord; thanking Him for not letting me be harmed by the two men.
Lesson learned: Do not look like you can be pushed around easily.
